Amal Clooney, 37, may be perfection personified — she’s smart, successful, insanely beautiful and oh yeah, married to George Clooney, 54, — but believe it or not, even she has a flaw or two. On Sept. 29, the international human rights lawyer stepped out for a date night with her handsome hubby only to reveal that like so many women, she too suffers from bunions. Ouch!
Amal looked radiant as she accompanied her handsome husband to an anniversary screening of his film O’ Brother, Where Art Thou? at the New York Film Festival on Sept. 29. Still, not even her sexy statement heels could detract what was an obvious attack of the bunions. For the occasion, Ms. Clooney slipped her feet into a pair of $750 Jimmy Choo sandals, but the straps did little to hide the unsightly bumps that protruded from the base of her big toe. Poor Amal — those look painful!

Surprisingly, bunions are actually a fairly common problem — especially among females — that have affected everyone from Victoria Beckham, 41, to Sarah Jessica Parker, 50. For a lot of women, high heels are often the source of the problem as the stiletto heel puts all the weight forward onto the splayed out toes and forefoot, which creates a pinching pressure on the big toe joint. According to experts there are 100 procedures used to correct the deformity. The most common however, are variations on what is known as a bunionectomy or open osteotomy. In less serious cases however, padded cushioning against the joint or anti-inflammatory medication may be used.
Still, bunions or not bunions, Amal looked beyond stunning in her bright green ensemble. The stylish lawyer rocked a sleeveless kelly green Versace skater dress, which paired perfectly with her eye-catching pumps. To finish the look, Amal accessorized with a pair of dazzling chandelier earrings, a glossy rose-hued lip and her signature bouncy blowout. Just two nights before, Amal and George celebrated their first wedding anniversary together in what was said to be “an intimate affair,” Us Weekly reports. “We did [legendary Ocean’s Eleven producer] Jerry Weintraub‘s memorial, but then we had dinner afterwards, so that was fun.” Congrats to the lovely couple!
