Yom Kippur is the day that marks atonement for Jewish people all over the world. On the holiest day of the Jewish year, which started on Rosh Hashanah on September 13, followers will be fasting for an entire 26 hours, as well as abstaining from washing their bodies, wearing leather, and doing a lot of other things. What an impressive feat. Celebrities like Billy Eichner, Ellen Degeneres, Jenny Slate — and even President Obama — tweeted about their hopes for the holy day.

It’s Yom Kippur. If you’re atoning, I forgive you. If you’re not atoning, I still forgive you.

To those who celebrate, may you have a reflective Yom Kippur and may your name be inscribed in the Book of Life.

What a beautiful, and sometimes funny, way to celebrate Yom Kippur! We see you, Billy and Natasha! We’re sure more and more celebs will visit Twitter throughout the day to talk their experiences during this holy day. HollywoodLifers, help us wish our Jewish readers a very happy Yom Kippur, and best wishes for the next year!
