Immediately after he was named winner of The Voice, Sawyer Fredericks, 16, already had plans for what he wants to do next. HollywoodLife.com caught up with the Season 8 champion after the May 19 live show, and found out whether he’ll head back to his small town in Upstate New York…or make the big move across the country to jumpstart his career! Find out here!
Sawyer is a farm boy at heart…and a farm boy he will say! The talented teenager spoke with HollywoodLife.com after winning The Voice, and told us he has no plans to pack up and leave the small town he calls home.
“I do not want to move to L.A.,” he told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “I’m not [okay with being a celebrity] and I don’t think I ever will be!”
Unfortunately for Sawyer, he’s definitely gained a celebrity status after his time on the show — he was the ultimate fan favorite all season long! But for him, it’s always just been about the music…and the important relationship’s he’s forged along the way.
“This whole thing has been amazing,” Sawyer gushed. “I believe the best part is meeting all these amazing people and making all these great connections. Everybody has so many great ideas and just meeting everybody and hearing their voice is amazing. That was the best part for me!”
In fact, he even plans to continue working with the friends he’s made now that the show is over. “It would take me a long time to put down a list of all the people I’d like to work with,” he admitted. “But I would love to sing with a lot of the other Top 20 contestants!”
What else is there to know about Sawyer? Did you know that even though he’s only 16, he actually recorded his own album before appearing on The Voice, which he played at a local Farmer’s Market every week?! Pretty cool, right?
Also, those hats he’s always wearing? He got his first when he was just 11 years old!
“I own three and I got my first when I was 11 at an antique store,” Sawyer told us. “I have always loved them!”
HollywoodLifers, do you think Sawyer should leave the farm to pursue his career?
