‘Secrets And Lies’: Ryan Phillippe Not Returning, If Show Gets Season 2

During the finale, Ryan took to Twitter to answer some fan questions, and revealed that the show was originally a “mini series in Australia” and was only “intended for 1 season.” When a fan asked if the show would get a season two, his answer was crystal clear: “Ask abc. My story ends tonight.” Of course, more fans were asking — “When this show is renewed will you be a part of it if asked?” He said, “Not possible for this series.”

“What he meant was this storyline was only meant for one season,” a source close to the show tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, adding that the decision whether or not the show will go on will be announced next week at the network’s Upfront. “If it does, it will come back with a new storyline and Juliette Lewis as Detective Cornell will be the only returning cast member.”

So, Ben Died?

Of course, many fans assume that this means that Ben is dead. After the crazy season finale revealed that his daughter actually killed Tom, he took the fall and landed himself in prison. However, the online post-show, Cornell Confidential showed us what happened 14 months later.[jwplatform XGhb0OK4]

It was his oldest daughter Natalie’s 18th birthday, and in comes Cornell, prancing into the local diner. She sits down with Natalie and Dave, and informs her that she knows her dad is innocent — and Natalie agrees to come forward and testify. However, the big surprise was the way they were referring to Ben: as past tense. They implied that he had been killed in prison.

So is he dead? Well, we’ll never know. All we do know is that Ben’s storyline is gone and we need Ryan to sign on to something new so we can see him again real soon!
