Nina Dobrev, 26, had nothing bad to say about her ex and on-screen love interest, Ian Somerhalder, 36, when she last spoke about The Vampire Diaries during an interview. While addressing whether or not it was awkward for the two of them to be so intimate as they film certain scenes, Nina quickly slammed the suggestion by revealing how she really feels about her ex.
It may not be the same kind of love their fans hope will return every day, but hey, it’s still love!
Check out this sweet video below in which Nina shares her thoughts on working with an ex:
“I have an enormous amount of respect and love for him,” Nina told E! Online in an interview done before she decided to leave TVD for good. Aw, that is so great to hear her say, isn’t it?
Nina also clarified where that love and respect stems from, and revealed that Ian still has qualities she really appreciates.
“If you’re with someone for that long, obviously there’s the qualities in them that you enjoy,” the former Elena Gilbert actress explained. “That doesn’t change just because you’re not together anymore. It doesn’t change. It shouldn’t, otherwise, why were you with them?”
Great point, Nina!
