Do re mi fa so la di dooooo! The Sound of Music‘s original Maria, Julie Andrews, 79, and the original Captain Von Trapp, Christopher Plummer, 85, are together again! To honor the film’s 50th (!) anniversary, a screening of the 1965 film was held at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Mar. 26 and, for the sake of your musical-loving heart, you need to see the pic!
We must have done “Something Good” to deserve this!Take Our Poll
Okay, I promise to cut out those awful puns (give or take 10-20 more), but really, how cool is this? A full 50 years after they successfully fled from the Nazis through the sheer power of choreographed group numbers, Julie and Christopher have gotten together again.
Both stars were on hand to mark the momentous occasion, which was celebrated with a restored version of the film. They even did a joint interview and, literally, it’s making us want to Climb Ev’ry Mountain (okay now I’m done. Honestly).
If you feel like you’ve been seeing much more of The Sound of Music lately, you aren’t wrong! In 2013, NBC aired a live broadcast of the famed musical, starring none other than Carrie Underwood in the role which Julie played.
More recently yet, at the 2015 Oscars, Lady Gaga paid tribute to the musical’s big anniversary by performing a medley of several of the songs. The performance was one of the most talked about moments of the show, compounded by the fact that, when the song ended, Julie herself showed up to applaud Gaga, and they embraced in what must have been a magically-Maria hug.
Do you still love The Sound of Music as much as we do?
