‘Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: ‘A’ Frames [SPOILER] For Mona’s Murder

Don’t mind me, my jaw is still on the floor after that crazy episode of ‘Pretty Little Liars’. The Liars realized they were in big trouble as ‘A’ took things to a whole new level.

The drama went through the roof on the Jan. 20 episode of Pretty Little Liars. Fan favorite relationships were left in jeopardy, a heartfelt proposal went down, Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) discovered something truly shocking and one of the Liars is possibly getting set up for Mona’s murder!

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: From Beyond The Grave

Things were getting more intense by the second for the Liars. The girls were so happy that Spencer and Caleb were able to get rid of the bloody knife, since it could have meant they’d be cellmates with Alison in prison.

But knowing “A,” she/he already has a Plan B, C, D, E, F and G.

The girls were also worried about Emily (Shay Mitchell) and the current state of her relationship with Paige. She was trying to move on and decided not to visit Paige for spring break. Poor Emily.Take Our Poll

After the meeting, Aria (Lucy Hale) continued to fret about the letter she wrote to get into Talmadge. She was seriously conflicted on when and how to tell Ezra. Her anxiety level reached an all-new high when the receipt for her cup of coffee printed out the entire letter. Darn you, “A!”

When Hanna (Ashley Benson) got home from her little pow wow, she thought she heard noises coming from the bedroom. Alas, it was only Pastor Ted in the kitchen. Whew. Hanna wanted to talk to her mom about her hot rendezvous with Jason, but Ashley wasn’t up for it. Seriously, Ted was only a few feet away.

Aria tried, tried and tried to get a moment with Ezra (Ian Harding) to explain the Talmadge situation, but kept getting interrupted.

This is not going to end well for Ezria. Not at all. (My poor heart is not going to be able to take it!)

Spencer had three college acceptance letters waiting to be opened and Toby (Keegan Allen) was beyond excited for her. Spencer was definitely not happy. She had applied to these schools just to get as far away from Alison (Sasha Pieterse) as she could. Yikes.

However, her day seemed to get a little brighter when the new guy living in the guest house stopped by for a chat. Apparently, he was going through the trash to make his own paint. (I’ve never heard of this in my life.) He talked about his lovely time in Italy, which piqued Spencer’s interest.

Things took a turn when Spencer got a text from…

MONA!

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: A Barrel For Your Thoughts

Aria got a text from Holbrook about a meeting. While she was waiting, she ran into Jason. She asked how things were at home since he put Alison in jail, and his response wasn’t too pretty. When it looked like Holbrook was a no-show, Aria and Jason had lunch together.

He confessed that the police had a theory that Alison had help from someone on the outside. Aria tried to get proof that Alison’s accomplice was Holbrook, but Jason came up short.

Spencer and Caleb teamed up again to track Mona’s (Janel Parrish) laptop. They headed to the location found on their GPS. They ran into Mrs. Horowitz, who admitted that a foul smell had been coming from the particular storage unit they were trying to get into. Uh oh.

Spencer and Caleb got inside and found Mona’s computer and bloody clothes. “A” was quickly building a case against someone. Suddenly, Caleb thought he saw someone else in the unit, but it was just an empty hazmat suit.

They discovered a barrel, and they were torn on whether or not to open it. Spencer and Caleb were almost 100% certain poor Mona’s body was inside.

I don’t want to know what’s in the barrel.

Just kidding. I do.

Spencer spotted denatured alcohol and antacid.  “She’s either being pickled or dissolved,” Caleb said. Gross. Just gross. Spencer started to open the barrel when the lights went off. Gasp!

Can we just all admit that a buddy cop show featuring Spencer and Caleb is something we would all watch.

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: Going Under

Meanwhile, Pastor Ted wanted to talk to Hanna about her mom. She thought he meant that thing Ashley did with Jason that she wasn’t supposed to. Nope. He wanted to ask her permission to marry Ashley.

Too. Freaking. Cute!

Emily and new chef Talia weren’t exactly getting off on the right foot. Talia noticed that Emily was hurting and tried to reach out. It didn’t work at first, but Emily started to warm up to Talia more and more as the episode went on.

Courtesy of “H,” Aria was sent to deliver flowers to Ashley. When she arrived, her and Hanna noticed a note from Jason. A part of the letter read, “Glad I stayed for dessert.” (Hehe.) Hanna was convinced that the flowers were from “A.” She admitted to Aria that she went to see Alison, and little A wasn’t too happy about it.

After their little fight at Ezra’s opening night, Spoby patched things up with a nice Scrabble date. This was beyond adorable. Unfortunately, he read her texts and found out she was working on something dangerous with Caleb. He wanted Spencer to stop getting herself into trouble before it was too late. He left without saying a word.

Spoby’s in trouble, y’all.

In the midst of her problems with “A,” Hanna had a whole new situation on her hands. Pastor Ted proposed to Ashley! He broke open a peanut butter cookie and out dropped a sparkling diamond ring!

This is how Ashley responded to this romantic gesture: “I need a minute.”

She is THE worst.

Unable to deal with the awkward moment that followed his proposal, Pastor Ted left. Good for him! Ashley told Hanna she couldn’t marry him until he knew the truth.

Emily went to get her check at work. Ezra headed to the register to get it, and I totally thought this would be the moment that he would find out about the letter. But no, we just saw Talia fawn over Ezra’s butt. (Join the club.)

Over at Spencer’s, the new guy still needed his egg. This simple favor segued into a full-fledged conversation about college and the future. Spencer was unsure if she wanted to go to college at all, and new guy revealed that he bailed to study art in Italy. Toby texted her in the middle of this hot convo, but she ignored him!

Caleb rushed to Hanna’s house to reveal some pretty huge information. The name on the rental agreement for the storage unit is Hanna Marin. (Gulp.)

“A” is totally trying to frame Hanna for Mona’s murder! (But is Mona really in the barrel?)

At the end of the episode, “A” or one of her minions hacked into Holbrook’s computer. What on God’s green earth could be his password? My bet is that it has something to do with Hanna or Alison.

HollywoodLifers, what did you think of tonight’s Pretty Little Liars? Do you think Hanna’s going to go down for Mona’s murder? Wasn’t Ashley the worst tonight? Is Spoby in trouble? Let us know!
