‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Ended The Only Way It Could

Through the amount of blood, sweat and tears that fell during seven seasons of ‘Sons of Anarchy,’ there was only one way for the series to end.

Saying goodbye to SAMCRO/Sam Crow, Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), and my personal favorite, Tig (Kim Coates), was never going to be an easy task. However, thanks to the genius mind of Kurt Sutter, the series ended on Dec. 9 in the best way possible. [Spoilers ahead!]

‘Sons of Anarchy’ Finale

I know everyone — I know we’re all heartbroken over the loss of Jax and I’ve read the comments that many feel it wasn’t right that he threw himself in front of a bus.Take Our Poll

However, I’m here to tell you — it was the right thing for Kurt to do, and he knew that. Did anyone expect him to ride off into the sunset? Instead, he realized the club was tearing his family and his life apart.

Throughout the series, he grew angry at his father, J.T., for never leaving the club when it fell apart but instead just writing a manuscript. John was hit by a semi-truck in 1993, and later died from the injuries.

Jax’s final ride, which ends with allowing himself to drive into a semi-truck, showed that he had learned from his father’s mistakes. Sure, he should have left the club when Tara had asked — but he still left. He had control over his own death: he didn’t let SAMCRO do it, and he didn’t let the cops do it.

He made the peace he needed to, made sure his family was protected, and said his goodbyes. He went when he thought it was time. In my mind, there’s no other way for it to end.

Kurt Sutter Thankfully Didn’t Go With Other Ending Idea

Kurt spoke during Anarchy Afterward about his choice, saying that from the beginning he wanted Jax to go out the same way his father did, and not in anyone else’s hands.

However that doesn’t mean Kurt didn’t play with the idea of a different ending.

“I wasn’t sure how much of it I was going to leave up to the imagination of people,” he said. “There was a discussion that he’s on the road and we see that truck and we leave it sort of open ended. And then ultimately I felt like this has not been a show of’ ‘what ifs,’ to a certain extent. This has always been a show about direct, specific choices and direct, specific consequences. So I realized I needed to be clear in terms of whether it happened or it didn’t.”

So HollywoodLifers, do you think the ending was right?
