The final moments of the Dec. 7 episode of Revenge were filled with tragedy. Fans watched as Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman), who had been series regular since season one, sacrificed his life to save Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp). However, Josh had been asking for Daniel to be killed off since season three. Oh, the irony.
Remember when we all thought Daniel was the one to die in the opening moments of Revenge’s pilot?
Four seasons later, Daniel’s death is now a reality. Despite the shocking end to a fan-favorite character, Josh wasn’t opposed to the idea of being killed off.
“I’m trying to pitch a Daniel death by the end of the season,” Josh told TV Guide in 2013. “I love working on the show, but I’m just being honest. My character has flip-flopped the most, and it’s been so hard for me to play.”Take Our Poll
Wait, what?! Josh only wanted to stay alive if his character went all-out evil.
“He should be despicable, disgusting and emotionless — worse than Conrad,” he continued. “Everything that he never wanted to be times 10! For me, that would be fun and the only way to keep him around.”
Despite what Joshua wanted, we were not happy to see Daniel die.
First of all, his relationship with Emily was finally getting to a good place. Their chemistry was off the charts, so don’t act like you didn’t want to see them rekindle their romance. Everyone Emily loves dies — Aiden (Barry Sloane) and now Daniel. Watch your back, Jack (Nick Wechsler).
And now his baby will never know his/her father. Poor Margaux (Karine Vanasse).
We have a few weeks to prepare for Daniel’s funeral, which is sure to be a complete sob fest.
Revenge returns January 4 at 10/9c on ABC.
