The multi-talented Wayne Static has died at the age of 48. The cause of his death has not been released. He was the lead vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist for his industrial rock metal band, Static-X.
Wayne’s death was confirmed by Billboard late on Nov. 1.
Information on what caused his death has not yet been released. The rocker was set to co-headline a tour with Powerman 5000 and Drowning Pool in the near future.
Wayne was widely recognized for his wacky hairstyle. His hair would stand straight up and spiked on his head for performances.
Wayne was just days from turning 49. His birthday is Nov. 4.
Static-X was formed in 1994, along with MJ Ludowise and Tony Campos. They released their debut album in 1999. The group would release five more albums together. Wayne started his solo career in 2009 and released his first solo album, Pighammer, in 2011.
Wayne was reportedly married to adult film star Tera Wray, according to People.
Upon hearing the news, notable musicians began tweeting their condolences. Dave Navarro, David Draiman and Morgan Rose were among the many who mourned Wayne on Twitter.
