Big Sean, 26, made some pretty big revelations in his Sept. 26 interview with Ryan Seacrest! Not only did he (more or less) confirm his romantic relationship with Ariana Grande, 21, but he also opened up about his song “I Don’t F*** With You,” which was released not long after his ex Naya Rivera, 27, tied the knot in a surprise ceremony.
In his interview, Ryan asks after the timeline of “I Don’t F*** With You”; after all, the song was written while Big Sean was still with Naya and is now eerily similar to their relationship situation.
In case you haven’t heard of it, some of the lyrics go: “I heard you got a new man, I see you takin’ a pic / Then you post it up, thinkin’ that its makin’ me sick / I see you calling, I be makin’ it quick / Imma answer that sh*t like: “I don’t f*** with you” / B**** I got no feelings to go /I swear I had it up to here, I got no ceilings to go.”
However, at the time of the song’s inception, “I was honestly just putting myself in a perspective,” Big Sean told Ryan. “As an artist, you just kinda have to do that, sometimes. It’s funny how records sometimes relate to you later on, sometimes they don’t.”
“Obviously,” he admitted, “[‘IDFWU’] kind of is my situation.”
So, there you have it, folks: “IDFWU” was a happy accident! While the song wasn’t necessarily written about Naya, Big Sean has no real problem being candid about the fact that the two situations definitely overlap.
Naya married husband Ryan Dorsey, 30, just months after splitting from Big Sean, wearing the dress that she would have worn to wed her ex! Pretty awkward. However, Naya seems happy with Ryan, Big Sean seems happy with Ariana, and every party is receiving a ton of press and attention due to this pretty crazy situation.
Everybody wins!
HollywoodLifers, do you like Ariana and Big Sean together? Did you think that Big Sean wrote that song as a direct reaction to Naya’s wedding? Let us know! (Big Sean talks about Naya at around 3:30 in the video above!)
