We were absolutely devastated when Nick Cannon, 33, announced his separation from Mariah Carey, 44, on Aug. 21. Since then, they have found a bit of peace, but Nick’s dad, James Cannon, wants his son to save the six-year marriage. Find out how!
James believes that if Nick had collaborated professionally with Mariah, it would’ve saved their relationship.
“If Nick could have somehow ran [Mariah’s] business or worked in conjunction with her they would have been such a power couple in Hollywood. It’s difficult, but look at Beyonce and Jay Z… If that means Nick needed to step aside from his business and taken a lead on Mariah’s work then I think it would have pushed them on a whole new level,” James told Page Six.
He believes the pair never spent enough “quality” time together as they pursued separate careers.
Mariah is a super successful recording artist and served as a judge on season 12 of American Idol. Nick is the host of America’s Got Talent. He’s also the Chairman of TeenNick and has been the development and creative consultant of the network since 2009.
“They are living a dream life with teams of people pulling them separate ways, so they get tired and exhausted – and that’s when you make mistakes. It would be my hope that they can find a way to save this marriage,” James said.
However, “whatever decision [Nick] makes, I’m going to support him,” he added.
We certainly hope that Mariah and Nick can salvage their relationship because friends and family are worried the “#Beautiful” singer may self-destruct.
Even though they’ve decided to live separately, Mariah still has a lot of love for Nick and she’s seriously hurting right now.
“Mariah’s family and close friends are worried about her. She’s a loose cannon and feels humiliated. She’s too caught up with what others think of her. And she does have a past of self-destructive behavior,” a source told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “She needs professional help and tons of support right now. Her friends are worried she will sabotage herself.”
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you still hoping that Nick and Mariah will somehow work it out? Or are they done for good? Let us know!
