Kate Middleton: Inside Her Sleepless Nights With Colicky Prince George

Kate Middleton experienced sleepless nights with Prince George just like any other new mom. The newborn prince reportedly spent his first few months crying constantly and refusing to sleep through the night. Aw!

Kate Middleton, 32, does not get special treatment just because she is the Duchess of Cambridge. When it comes to being the mother of Prince George, 11 months old, even the Duchess spent many nights caring for her newborn through his colicky tantrums. More details about Kate’s first few months with Prince George have been revealed inside the Vanity Fair issue celebrating the tiny royal’s first birthday.

Kate Middleton’s Sleepless Nights With Colicky Prince George

It is safe to say that Duchess Kate is just like the rest of us.

Yes, that means even she has dealt with some of the not-so-pleasant details of being a new mom.

In the Aug. 2014 cover issue of Vanity Fair, Prince George’s first year takes center stage. The article goes in-depth into his first few months as a newborn royal, and even revealed that the little prince suffered from months of colicky nights — which kept his mom up, too.

“Kate expressed relief that George behaved well during his first few public appearances,” reads the article, in which a reporter spoke to multiple different sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

“[…] the first few months the prince cried loudly and frequently, and he was not sleeping through the night.”

Eek! That sounds… well, it sounds like any new mom’s experience. Isn’t it nice to know that even flawless Kate Middleton has to deal with her colicky baby?

Prince George Was ‘Permanently’ Hungry As a Newborn

If you thought Prince George had a touch of chubby cheeks, you would be correct.

Those precious little cheeks were reportedly very, very hungry as a newborn baby, according to the VF article.

“[Former] Nanny Jessie Webb tried hard to get him into a routine but the baby prince, who was still breastfeeding, was permanently hungry.”

The article continues, “[…] it was only in the new year, when Kate introduced solids, that George finally slept through the night.”

Well, it’s great to hear they finally were able to get some sleep inside the palace!
