It’s all happening! Mary Margaret’s having her son, Zelena’s trying to steal that son and time travel to the past/kill everyone she knows. Will the plan come to fruition, or will Regina, Emma, and company find a way to stop her? And what the heck is Rumple going to do?
Mary Margaret and David’s baby is coming… like so hard. She’s screaming as if she’s having Rosemary’s Baby. Unfortunately we know this isn’t a totally happy moment, because Zelena and Rumple are headed Mary’s way to claim the child to complete what the Wicked Witch needs to travel back in time.
Emma doesn’t want to wait for Zelena to come to them — she’s going after the witch and taking Hook with her. Which sucks for Hook, because Rumple almost immediately throws him into a pool of water to drown.
We both know the only way to save someone from drowning is to give them CPR, and just like that, Emma’s magic has been taken by Hook’s cursed lips!
Back in Oz, Glinda the Good Witch seems to be up to something — telling Zelena to ditch this time-traveling plot and “come meet her real sisters.” She takes Zelena to the Heart of Oz, where her cleavage-y witch sisters are sitting around a glowing ice crystal.
Glinda wants Zelena to join her and her two witch sisters so that they can become the strongest magicians in the realm. This presents an option for Zelena to change her future, rather than working backwards and changing her past. She only has to choose to be good.
Glinda reveals that her book foretells that a witch from the west will join them to protect Oz forever. The good witch thinks that witch is Zelena. After all, she came to Oz via cyclone.
Zelena goes for it, letting go of her past, shedding her green skin, and becoming part of the sisterhood.
But back in Storybrooke, Zelena is still going full throttle with vengeance, taking everyone in the hospital out with a sway of Rumple’s dagger. Just as Mary Margaret has her baby son, Zelena barges in and easily takes him.
So why are things so bad in Storybrooke if Zelena changed her ways? Well, just as soon as Zelena has put on her witch-hood pendant, another cyclone comes in from the west, carrying none other than Dorothy… you know, from Kansas.
Zelena’s got that green look back in her eye — and back on her skin. Turns out the second part of Glinda’s prophecy is that another figure will come into Oz and defeat the greatest evil that’s ever been know (*cough* Zelena *cough*). Zelena goes back to full-green mode and just as she’s about to turn Dorothy to ashes, the girl from Kansas douses her in water. We’ve all seen Wizard of Oz, we know how the Wicked Witch reacts to a little H2O. “I’m melting!” Zelena screams. It’s pretty gruesome.
The prophecy has come to pass. Actually though, Zelena reanimates pretty quickly.
Thrust into recovery mode back in Storybrooke, little Henry tells Regina that she can be the one to defeat her sister, with light magic this time. Just as Zelena is throwing together her time-traveling device, flush with different colored fire, Regina and the gang arrive.
Regina gets totally choked out, but she throws together some sick light magic just at the right time and is able to snatch Zelena’s pendant. The time traveling vortex closes, David gets the baby back, and Rumple turns on some serious revenge. But before he can kill Zelena, Regina stops him. Remember, she’s good now.
Destiny, and everyone’s ability to make their own, was the point of this episode, and in Storybrooke Regina explains to her captured sister that she’s going to give her one last chance to create good rather than evil. She hides her pendant deep in the woods, hopefully preventing that green goblin from ever messing stuff up.
Before he episode ends though, Belle gives Rumple his dagger back. But instead of taking his power back, he refuses to accept the dagger, therefore bequeathing himself to her — and actually proposing to her. This goes down as the first time ever that a man has put a knife on it, rather than a ring.
However, Belle only had a fake dagger — Rumple’s got the real thing. And since he never breaks a promise, he puts his real dagger in Zelena’s gut, turning her into glass and breaking her to pieces. The episode closes with Zelena’s green cloud creating a sort of foreboding circle in the ground. So that can’t be good!
How will this season end? Tune in next week to find out!
