Luke Bryan, 37, showed the 2014 Academy of Country Music Awards how to party with a performance of “Play It Again.”
When Blake Shelton took the stage to introduce Luke Bryan, we knew that a great performance was ahead of us!
“Luke Bryan is our next performer and he and I have a lot of fun needling each other,” Blake joked. “In fact, a lot of people actually think I would screw up his introduction just to get even for all of the B.S. he’s done to me. Not gonna do it. I’m taking the high road!”
But that wasn’t exactly true, because just moments later Blake called him “Bluke Lyran.” Was he referencing John Travolta‘s “Adele Nazeem” mishap at the 2014 Oscars? It sure sounded like it!
While Luke performed his hit song “Play It Again,” country’s A-list rocked out in the audience. From Carrie Underwood to Taylor Swift, it looked like everyone was singing along!
Not too long after Luke’s awesome performance, he and Blake played a belated April Fools on the audience when they walked out with helmets on their heads and pretended to be Daft Punk.
When the announcer claimed that the mysterious pop-dance duo were presenting, the two guys in helmets walked up to the mic and said absolutely nothing.
But moments later, they ripped off their helmets and pretended to gasp for oxygen while the audience applauded.
“How the hell you supposed to get lucky in that thing? I couldn’t even breathe,” Luke joked.
