We saw some stellar performances from Austin Mahone and Aloe Blacc at the 2014 Kids’ Choice Awards on March 29. But we think American Authors totally stole the show with their fun, feel-good performance of “Best Day of My Life.”
The Kids’ Choice Awards really went out with a bang this year! American Authors were the last performers to take the stage and they absolutely killed it with their upbeat rendition of “Best Day of My Life,” off their debut album Oh, What a Life.
Oh, what a performance it was! The band pulled out all the stops to make sure their fans were having fun. They had a black light on stage, as well as big band of drummers who splattered glowing paint all over their white jumpsuits with every beat of their drums.
Towards the end of the song, colorful confetti and balloons were released from the ceiling, falling on the delighted crowd! These guys sure know how to put on a show and we’re definitely going to be keeping our eye — and our ears — on them from now on!
The Brooklyn-based band has been everywhere lately! American Authors made a cameo on The CW’s The Carrie Diaries and were also featured in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
The group was super excited to perform at the KCAs this year. The guys even released an enthusiastic statement ahead of the show, saying, “We’re such big fans of Nickelodeon and the Kids’ Choice Awards! It’s an honor to be performing on the show March 29th, we can’t wait! PLEASE SLIME US!!!!” Unfortunately, their slime wish didn’t come true, but hey, there’s always next year!
