‘The Originals’ Recap: Love Triangles Take Over New Orleans

It’s a full moon in New Orleans, so that means that it’s time to party. No, literally — that’s what the Mikaelson family does whenever they can find a reason to. Plus, in a city of werewolves, vampires, witches and hybrids, what could really go wrong?

With New Orleans without a leader, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) felt the need to step up in front of Klaus (Joseph Morgan). So, with the support of Hayley (Pheobe Tonkin), it should be smooth sailing — until her new werewolf family get involved.

‘The Originals’ Recap: Who Will Rule New Orleans?

Elijah was eager to “make the city whole again” with Klaus by his side, but that wasn’t what he had in mind. He was a little busy hooking up with Genevieve (Elyse Levesque), which may be a little weird since she’s the one who tried tricking Cami (Leah Pipes) into stabbing him. But we’ll get into that later.

Hayley cozied up to her werewolf family in “the swamp,” but only until she realized that she was left out of the debate about how to run the city. So that once-super-lovey relationship she used to have with Elijah was thrown out the window. How could he leave out the werewolves in the “who runs this city” discussion?

As for Davina (Danielle Campbell) . . . well the other witches think she’s weaker than ever because she has to keep her powers to herself, or else she’ll find herself dead. Lucky for her she has her BFF, Josh (Steven Krueger), who reminds her that Marcel does love her, even though he screwed her over before saving her life.

Supernatural Party Or Fight Night?

So, how do you figure out who rules New Orleans? Well, throw a party of course! Klaus offers Hayley’s new BFF (and maybe more?) Jackson (Nathan Parsons) a deal to become a hybrid — and then he will be in charge of the city with the rest of them. Jackson’s obviously not ready to hand himself over to Klaus… until he offers him a “moonlight ring” that he got from his mother. He claims it protects werewolves from the curse at every full moon.

One of the few romantic moments of the episode was Elijah and Hayley finally getting close in a dance — and I’m not happy that Jackson interrupted it. Regardless, that’s two amazingly gorgeous men to be stuck in between. However, the romance doesn’t last long because in a room of witches, hybrids, vamps and werewolves, naturally a fight broke out and it turned into a full-out war.

Hayley decided to actually become the leader and totally made sense explaining that they’ve all hurt each other’s families so they mightaswell all kill each other if that’s how they’re going to decide whose in charge. Look at that — a non-Mikaelson (and a pregnant one at that!) taking the reigns!

Cami Gets Herself In A Sticky Situation

Meanwhile, Cami wasn’t at the party, as she was getting attacked by her Uncle Kieran (Todd Stashwick), and couldn’t figure out a way to help him out of the hex he was in. She would need a witch — like Genevieve. Of course, she was a tad jealous of her for hooking up with Klaus — and Genevieve was jealous right back!

Anways, until she can get her help, she had to find someone to get close too — cue the unexpected Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). What could go wrong there, right?

Well, yes — it’s exactly what you’re thinking of. Marcel and Cami get completely wasted and decide to have a steamy hook up session. Unfortunately for her, through the magic little dream catcher she and Genevieve both have, the witch watches the hook up go down. Yes, it sounds hot but instead it’s just really really creepy.

That creates quite the situation, since it’s no secret that she will tell Klaus. However, will he even care? At the end of this week’s drama-fest, Klaus gives in to his brother — and they all sign a contract to rule the city together — the werewolves, the vampires, the witches and yes, the hybrids. For some reason, I’m thinking it may not work out as perfectly as they’re all hoping for. What do you think?
