Katy, 29, isn’t so sure she’s ready to be 100 percent committed to John, 36. The couple have officially taken a break from seeing each other, and HollywoodLife.com can EXCLUSIVELY tell you why.
“The breakup is real but it may not be permanent,” a source close to the both entertainers reveals EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com. “But the one thing that happened was that John was interested in marrying Katy and wanted to propose, but she didn’t want to take that plunge yet.”
We’re pretty surprised that Katy isn’t ready to go the distance with John, but it turns out her ex-husband might have something to do with it!
Katy Perry: Why She’s Scared Of Committing To John Mayer
Katy was married to funny guy Russell Brand for 14 months before he coldly texted her to tell her he wanted a divorce. It later came to light that the two had completely different schedules and were rarely face-to-face. Also, Russell was reportedly upset that Katy wasn’t prepared to have children and that her career was thriving more than his own.
While Katy thinks the world of John, she’s scared some of the issues she and Russell tangled with will manifest in her relationship with the rocker.
“She realized that she really loved John but the commitment of marriage scared her because she failed at it the first time,” the source tells us EXCLUSIVELY. “She wants to live her life less seriously right now.”
