Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth may not have publicly announced their split until Sept. 16, but in a new interview with Fashion magazine, she’s talking about a new song all about wanting to leave him — that she wrote in February.
“I wrote [“Drive”] while I was working on Valentine’s Day,” she told the mag, which hits stands Oct. 7. “Emotionally it was such a hard time. It is about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship. It’s a time when you want to leave but you can’t. It’s also about moving on.”
The only lyrics that are currently revealed are, “We can just drive away from my troubles, drive far away where no one can find us, drive ’til our hands get blue and pain gets in our hearts.”
“Drive” is reportedly the ninth track on Miley’s album Bangerz, which will hit stores on Oct. 4.
It does come as somewhat of a surprise to us, as we thought Miley and Liam were very much together in February . . . but apparently she was thinking about ending the relationship then.
However, when looking back, it would make sense that they started drifting apart in February.
The pre-Oscars party that Liam left with January Jones took place on Feb. 23, just nine days after Valentines Day. So, maybe the two were having troubles before then, causing Liam to hang out with January.
Then in March, Miley took off her wedding ring — an action she later defended, and Liam jetted for a solo vacation in Australia, causing tons of rumors.
So, HollywoodLifers — what do you think of the interview? Is it strange that Miley and Liam were having relationship troubles back then but waited so long to split? Let us know!
