Selena Gomez led the celebrities paying tribute to Glee star Cory Monteith after his sudden and tragic death at the age of 31 on July 13.
“This hurts. I love you Cory. Rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family,” Selena tweeted on July 14, captioning a photo of herself and Cory hugging on the carpet at the 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards.
Selena, 20, and Cory shared the big screen together in the the 2011 romantic comedy Monte Carlo.
Selena was just one of many celebrities who took to their Twitter pages to express their grief over the death of the beloved actor.
To name a few, Mark Salling, who plays Puck on Glee, captured his speechlessness over Cory’s death, only tweeting, “No.” Mark, however, deleted the tweet soon after. Plus, Selena’s BFF Taylor Swift, who reportedly dated Cory for a short amount of time, tweeted, “Speechless. And for the worst reason.”
Cory’s off-screen girlfriend and Glee co-star Lea Michele has not tweeted since his passing. “She is absolutely hysterical and completely inconsolable,” a source close to the actor tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “She is devastated beyond belief.”
Cory will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
