Before Cory Monteith’s sudden and tragic death on July 13, the Glee actor was seen spending time with his friends in Vancouver. A photo, posted to Twitter on July 11, shows Cory having a “great meal with good friends,” including mentor Maureen Webb.
“@eastofMAINcafe and @ProjLimelight Great meal with good friends. @maureenwebb Oh. And this guy. @CoryMonteith,” Twitter user @slimyagent (known as Elena K.) said on July 11, captioning the final picture of Cory alive.
Furthermore, Cory uploaded the photo to his account, where it now serves as his profile picture.
During his time in Vancouver, Cory spent time at The Shop, a local coffee house and clothing store for people who love motorcycles, and East Of Main Cafe, a café in Vancouver’s east side.
At the cafe, Cory dined with Maureen, the co-founder of Project Limelight, a free theatre program for children living in Vancouver’s troubled Downtown Eastside. Cory helped launch the Vancouver-based arts charity last year.
East of Main Café is also affiliated with the charity, as the restaurant serves as a fundraising arm for the program. Every customer’s visit contributes to Project Limelight, so we’re sure Cory attracted a number of fans during his visit to the cafe and further helped bring in contributions to the charity.
It’s heartwarming to know that Cory was literally helping others during the last moments of his life.
Cory’s rep confirmed that the young actor had passed away on July 13. “We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate,” the rep told People. “We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.” He was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room. An autopsy will be performed on July 15.
