Melissa McCarthy definitely wore the wrong shoes for her second turn as host of Saturday Night Live on Apr. 6. The actress could barely walk and made a hilarious scene of slowly, painfully falling to the ground.
This is one way to take things up a notch. Instead of singing a funny song or making some riotous jokes, Melissa decided to turn the mere act of taking the stage into a joke! As her name was announced, she hobbled out in huge glittery red heels, her legs bowing in and out uncontrollably.
By the time the intro song was finished, Melissa was barely down the stairs. “That seemed like a lot shorter of a song, is that intro shorter than last time,” Melissa joked. “I might have taken a little longer — I should have tried on these shoes!” Melissa made the band replay the song, and then snatched a chair for support from the saxophone player!
But even the chair couldn’t help her — as she put her weight on the chair it began to slide. “Oh, stop, stop, stop,” she said as she very slowly slid to the ground with the chair, ending up flat on her face! “This smells like a lot of musicians,” Melissa quipped referring to the stage.
Melissa has already established herself as a queen of physical comedy, so obviously she handled the fall like a trooper. She’ll always go to great lengths for a good laugh, and we thank her for it.
