Now that we know our time with the 90210-ers is drawing to a close — the series finale airs May 13 — I’m reflecting on how much and why exactly I’ll miss them, which is what I pondered while watching the March 4 episode. Most of all, I’ll miss these kids’ uncanny ability to completely switch life directions on a weekly basis, then immediately achieving unfathomable success in their new field.
Take Liam (Matt Lanter), for example. The bartender-turned-model-turned-actor managed to launch a custom-surfboard company and snag himself a surfer girl this week — mere minutes after telling his bros that he wanted to launch a custom-surfboard company and snag himself a surfer girl. Her name is Sydney, and Liam really doesn’t care that she’s already married, or that her stepson is that evil chap from Glee. He will continue jumping Sydney’s bones for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) and Annie (Shenae Grimes) spent the entire hour playing Tug-of-Bro with Mark (Charlie Weber). Annie hoped to land him a sweet chef position in NYC, but Naomi didn’t want him to leave the Off-Shore — you know, that restaurant they managed to open in a matter of days, because everyone on this show is a prodigy at everything. Mark decided to stay in Beverly Hills, which means Annie technically lost twice this week. (She also had to listen to every dirty detail of Liam’s encounter with the Sydney the surf-slut.)
Then there were Dixon (Tristan Wilds) and Silver (Jessica Stroup), who managed to record an epic last-minute music video for Michaele — or as the music industry will soon know think of her, ‘that pregnant girl whose records no one buys.’ And even though I know Dixon is supposed to be getting all flirty with the uterus, am I the only one who saw serious sparks between him and Silver? Could it be time for “Sixon” to reunite? Again? Then we’d have two things to celebrate, because Michaela is officially knocked up!
Lastly, Navid (Michael Steger) continued to wonder where he went so terribly wrong in life — he says he dropped out of Princeton because of Raj’s death, but let’s be real, they were barely friends — as he got straight-up rejected by the marketing training program of his dreams. (Twice.) He eventually managed to turn things around, but that kid from Glee — whose stepmom Liam is totally banging — looked really pissed about it, so I’m sure he’ll ruin Navid’s chances. … In the key of revenge.
Oh, did I forget to mention Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) walked in on Annie and Naomi calling her a “tramp?” It was just as awkward as it would be if Adrianna walked in on me writing one of these recaps. Poor trampy Adrianna.
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of this week’s episode? Were you disappointed in the lack of Annie-Liam progression, or was the Silver-Dixon flirting enough to satisfy your shipper cravings? Drop me a comment with your review of the hour!
