Peter Facinelli Reveals ‘Breaking Dawn’ Explosive Ending Secrets

The head of the Cullen clan talks about ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2’s’ surprise twist ending, and how he knew Carlisle’s ‘heroic’ actions would ‘shock the audience.’ Read on for all the details!

Peter Facinelli has played the noble and brave Carlisle Cullen in five Twilight movies, and now that Breaking Dawn Part 2 has been released, he is spilling all the details on the surprise twist ending!

Peter spoke at the Cinema Society’s screening on Nov. 15, where he admitted that he “couldn’t wait” to see the audience’s response to Carlisle’s fate. Be warned: if you haven’t seen the movie yet, DON’T READ ON!

For those Twi-hards that have seen Breaking Dawn Part 2, you will know that there is an explosive fight scene between the Cullens and the Volturi, where many of our favorite characters are killed. Carlisle is the first to die, after he is decapitated by the evil Aro. Thankfully, it was all just a vision in Alice Cullen’s head! Peter talks about his reaction to Carlisle’s death:

“Well, when I first read it in the script, I was bummed, because I thought that was it for me! I was like, ‘I don’t get to do any action this time around? I love action!’ Eclipse was one of my favorite movies to do because I got to roll up Carlisle’s sleeves and do action. But then after I read it all the way through, I knew it was going to shock the audience and I couldn’t wait to see their response to this.”

“I feel like it was a really heroic way to go, because he’s going after saving Alice, and I thought if you’re going to go out, better to go out heroic, rather than running the other way!”

Peter also reveals that it took hours of processing to make his severed head, and he has concerns as to where it ended up! “I never got to hold my head, actually! I hope they send it to me now, and I can put it on my mantle. They don’t need it anymore, right? I wonder what they do with it. I bet you they put it on eBay. I’m going to start looking for it. I’ve never had that happen on film before, so I got to say I got a little misty-eyed seeing my own head in someone else’s hands!”

We think it would be pretty strange if Peter decided to display his own severed head on his mantle piece, but to each their own!

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think the ending of Breaking Dawn Part 2 was shocking?
