Kate Middleton’s Topless Photos Removed From Magazine’s Website

The threatened legal action against Closer must have worked, as the magazine has chosen to remove the controversial photos of Kate from their website! Read on for all the details.

Following the outrage, and the threatened legal action, that arose when Closer France published topless photos of Kate Middleton, the publication has removed the offending photographs from their website and replaced them with a statement clarifying their decision to run the photos in the first place.

A post on the magazine’s website on Friday, Sept. 14 reads, “Following the comments received by the publication of photos of Kate and William in Closer magazine France, the direction of Closer magazine in France wishes to make the following clarifications. This is the French edition of Closer and not the English edition…The photos we selected are by no means degrading. They show a young couple on vacation, beautiful, love, modern in their normal life. The article reports that the couple [recently vacationed] in the south of France.”

The distinction that the website is the French edition of Closer and not the English is important, as a statement on the English edition’s website reads, “As the owners of the Closer brand and publishers of Closer magazine we have complained in the strongest terms to the licensee of Closer France, over the publication by them of photographs of their Royal Highnesses, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge. We deplore the publication of these intrusive and offensive pictures and have asked that Closer France takes these pictures down immediately from its website and desist from publishing any further pictures. Bauer Media and Closer UK regards publication of these photographs as a gross intrusion of their Royal Highnesses’ privacy.”

“We were not aware in advance of the purchase of these photographs or of any intention to publish. We have absolutely no control over the editorial decisions of Closer France. In the light of their publication, we are now urgently discussing this matter with our licensee and reviewing the terms of our licence agreement with Closer France. Like our readers we are appalled and regret the pain the publication of these photographs has caused.”

Are you glad the magazine removed the photos of Kate, HollywoodLifers?
