Although Jessica Simpson meticulously planned to have a natural labor and delivery — she’s had a doctor on call 24/7, a live-in nurse stationed at her Beverly Hills mansion and a $500,000 birthing suite reserved — she recently decided to scratch everything and schedule a c-section.
“The though of going into labor scared the bejeezus out of her,” a friend recently told In Touch. “Jessica has no tolerance for pain.”
While everyone knows that pain is a part of childbirth, Jessica, 31, couldn’t deal with the discomfort, and instead, opted to have major surgery.
“She even turned to hypnotherapy to calm her fears about it, but nothing was working,” the friend revealed. “She was absolutely terrified and just knew that she couldn’t handle it.”
Despite her fears about childbirth, Jessica is confident in her ability to be a good mother and has already been having lengthy conversations with her daughter, Maxwell.
“She would talk to her about fashion and high heels, and then the next minute, tell her to get an education and become the president,” said the friend.
But no matter what, “Jessica would always start off by saying how much she loved her already.”
