Color Your Own Hair

How To

At Home

Yes, it is possible to dye your own hair at home and look salon perfect. Let Deb Rosenberg, professional colorist and AVP of Education at Color & Co. explain how.

Keep Your Expectations Realistic:  When coloring at home, it’s best to stick to all-over color applications such as root touch-ups, gray coverage, or overall shade changes.

Properly Assess Your Starting  Color & Condition That’s important when it comes to color because hair that is dry or weakened will accept dyes differently.

Recruit a Family Member If you don’t have to do the application yourself, don’t!

Be Mindful of Your Application:  Keep the color only where you need it, at the roots, and only refresh the ends if it’s necessary for the last 5-10 minutes.

Take Care of Your Color-Treated Hair Avoid wetting your hair every day if you don’t have to. Consider using a dry shampoo at the roots on off days.
